Most states only require you to get your bachelor’s degree however there are a few that require a master’s degree in order for you to be eligible to teach. Some states have programs that can get your master’s degree accomplished in 5 years. New York in particular has a 5 year masters degree program.
The most common certification requirement test is the PRAXIS. Once you pass this test you can get your teacher certification.
