Options For Donating Toys
This is a guest post from Chloe at Ben 10 Alien Toys.
Donations make you feel good and help those most deserving. Donating toys not only makes you feel good but helps clear out some of your children’s clutter at the same time. There are many places you can donate toys such as hospitals and charities, so go and have a look through your toy mountain and see if you can find a better home for some of those unwanted toys.
The happiness that donating toys brings starts in your own home by you feeling good about your actions and by the extra space and tidiness you create in your child’s room and passes to the recipient child, who is less fortunate than your children, and onto the parents and carers of that child. Why not have a sort through today and then again in a week, or even better on a monthly basis? Imagine what happiness this will bring.
Creating such a huge positive effect on others seems like it is going to take you a lot of effort to achieve. But actually the process is so simple you will wonder why you have never done it before. Just take 10 minutes to look through your child’s toy collection and identify the ones that they have grown out of, never liked in the first place or just do not play with anymore. Make sure they are in good condition as you should throw away anything you would not buy second hand yourself. Then decide who you want to donate toys to. Charities are an obvious choice – you can either take the toys to your local shop or try to sell them online. Schemes like the ‘Ebay For Charity’ initiative or Jumbleaid allow you to sell your toys online where the buyer knows the proceeds are going to a charity that you have selected. Hospitals are a good place to donate to for toys that never made it out of the box. They are less likely to accept second hand toys due to health and safety concerns. Other options for where you can donate your used toys are children’s homes, orphanages abroad and special needs schools.
Hopefully these options will prove useful to you in deciding who you want to benefit from your unwanted toys.
