Using Green in Interior Design

The world of nature is full of green yet you find it less than other natural colors such as beige, stone, brown and cream when it comes to decoration. That is a pity as it is so useful in the way it comes in so many different tones that add life to many schemes even if it just in the leaves of green plants you add to your natural color scheme or the limes you display in your fruit bowl in your lemon kitchen. If you would like to consider using green, here are three very different greens to try in your interior:-

Olive or Moss Green

The darker shades of green have a restful feel to them and have a hint of history about them. They suit dark wood furniture and flooring and old leather chairs. Use them in rooms where you want to relax and be quiet – a book lined library or formal drawing room spring to mind. Make sure they are not too gloomy by pairing them with lighter highlights such a cream. If you have a contemporary room use moss or olive in a different way as a replacement for black for instance in a simple leather chair or a green rug made of olive leather strips.

Apple Green

Apple green is light and fresh and would be wonderful in a sunny kitchen, bedroom or bathroom where it gives a country style feeling to your room. Apple goes well with white or cream and summer pastels for a soft and pretty look. An apple green braided rug would look magnificent in a sunny kitchen or bedroom.

Jade Green

Jade is a green mixed with a fair amount of blue to provide a distinctive color in its own right which is almost oriental and mysterious in nature. It goes well with white and black in particular and could be a wonderful accent color for a monochromatic room scheme.
